Who We Are

Olds Association for Community Living maintains the belief that every person has value and worth.  As an agency, it is our goal and responsibility to see beyond disability in order to promote and realize the potential of every Individual we serve.

We are proud that we have Individuals who have been with our Association since its inception 30 years ago.  We have had other Individuals who have "graduated" from our programs because they have acquired the skills they needed to no longer require our supports.  Many of these Individuals continue to stay in touch with us to let us know how well they are doing.  We feel honoured and a sense of accomplishment that these Individuals want to stay connected with us. We are proud of how OACL and our dedicated Staff have helped to make this happen.

OACL believes that all persons, including those with cognitive and physical challenges, have the right to establish a home in the community of their choice. Every Individual should be given the opportunity and support they need to become contributing and responsible members of society.  To help Individuals accomplish this goal, the Association owns homes to ensure that Individuals have access to affordable rent and stable housing.

As the Association has grown, we have been able to increase the number of services available to Individuals and their families. We offer Residential Services, Proprietorship Services, Respite Supports, Supported Employment Services, Volunteer Work Experience and Community Access.

It is our continued goal to help each of our Individuals to achieve their highest potential by promoting growth and independence and the opportunity to meet their own needs.

Purpose Statement:

Olds Association for Community Living was created to offer an alternative to persons with
disabilities who are seeking support in their daily living, and vocational needs. All services are
delivered in the least intrusive manner possible and reflective of each individual’s level of
independence and personal growth. Our goal is to support individuals to meet his or her own
needs, not to do it for them. Olds Association for Community Living offers close personal service to
promote growth and independence in each individual, and to assist them to reach their maximum
potential.

Olds Association for Community Living is committed to working in cooperation with families,
guardians, community members and other service providers to ensure that all individuals served
are given the greatest opportunity to be the best they can be. It is our goal to work with the
community to organize activities that are not currently being provided or offered locally. We feel it
is essential to develop and offer the very best programs that we can; however, we are aware that it
will be impossible to meet the needs of all individuals. With this in mind we see the importance of
good open communication between agencies especially during the transition process. We will
support the community by upholding our responsibility to be contributing members and by utilizing
and encouraging the use of, and participation in, community services and programs by our
individuals.
